Getting started
Find your way around HEZZ Answers.
What is HEZZ Answers?
HEZZ Answers brings together practical questions, useful guides, everyday calculators and community discussions.
In the Android app- Home shows the latest questions and answers.
- The bottom bar has Home, Calculators, Ask, Topics and Account. The menu opens Search and Discussion groups.
Community answers are contributions from members. Consider the source and context, especially for important decisions.
Do the website and Android app use the same account?
Yes. Your HEZZ account connects your profile and community activity across both.
In the Android app- Tap Account and sign in using the same HEZZ email or linked Google account.
- Use the same account when managing groups, reporting content or blocking members.
The website and app may present buttons differently. Use the platform selector in this guide to follow the correct steps.
Can I browse without signing in?
You can read published questions, guides and public discussions without an account.
In the Android app- Browse Home, Topics and Calculators.
- Open Account to sign in when a community action asks you to do so.
Private group discussions require accepted membership.
Accounts and sign-in
Create an account, sign in and get back into your account.
How do I create a HEZZ account?
Use your name, email address and a password, or Google sign-in when available.
In the Android app- Tap Account, then Create account or Register.
- Enter your display name, email address and password in their fields.
- Complete the email verification screen using the code sent to your inbox.
Check Spam or Junk if the verification email is missing. Do not share your password or verification code.
Where do I type my email and password to sign in?
Use the Email address and Password fields on the sign-in screen.
In the Android app- Tap Account in the bottom bar.
- Under the Google button, use the email sign-in form: enter Email address and Password.
- Tap Sign in.
The Show button reveals your password temporarily so you can check typing. Hide it again before sharing a screenshot.
How do I sign in with Google?
Use Continue with Google and choose the Google account you want linked to HEZZ.
In the Android app- Tap Account, then Continue with Google.
- Select your Google account and complete Google’s prompts.
- Wait for the app to finish signing in before tapping another button.
If you are returned to sign-in, read any message beneath the Google button. Try again after reopening the app; contact support if it continues. Existing accounts may ask you to use your HEZZ email/password instead.
What if I forgot my password?
Use the password reset option for an account created with email and password.
In the Android app- Tap Forgot password? in the Account sign-in form.
- Enter your registered email and follow the reset-code screens.
- Return to Account and sign in with your new password.
If you only created your account through Google, use Continue with Google.
How do I sign out?
Sign out when you finish using a shared device.
In the Android app- Open the menu and tap Sign out, or use Sign out in Account.
Signing out unregisters that app device for HEZZ push notifications.
Finding answers
Search, browse topics and open the right page.
Where do I type a question to search for an existing answer?
Use Search when you want to find content that already exists.
In the Android app- Tap the search button on Home or open Menu → Search.
- Type keywords into the search field and wait for suggestions/results.
- Tap a result to open its question or answer.
Search finds existing content; it does not submit a new question. Use Ask a question to publish your own.
How do I browse a category or topic?
Topics organize questions and guides by subject.
In the Android app- Tap Topics in the bottom bar.
- Choose a topic card, then tap a question or guide.
- Use Back to return to the topic list.
What is the difference between a community question and a guide?
A community question has member answers; a guide presents an editorial answer with a discussion section.
In the Android app- Tap View question to read a community question and its answers.
- Open an answer/guide card to read the official answer and its discussion.
Highlighted or official answers are presented separately from the general reply thread.
Asking questions
Know what to type and what happens after submission.
Where do I type a new question?
Use the Ask a Question form, not the Search field.
In the Android app- Tap Ask or the plus button in the bottom bar. Sign in first if asked.
- Enter your short question/title, choose a category, and write the extra information in Details.
- Optionally add an image/GIF or paste a Featured YouTube video URL, then tap Submit Question. A video replaces the selected image.
Write one clear question. Explain the problem, what you tried, and what kind of answer would help. Avoid posting private account details.
What should I write in Question and Details?
The question is a short heading; Details gives the context people need to answer.
In the Android app- Use the short example in the question/title field.
- Put the longer explanation in Details. Add a relevant image only if it helps explain the issue.
Choose a relevant category. Do not use the title field for the entire explanation.
Why is my question not visible immediately?
Submitted questions are reviewed before they appear publicly.
In the Android app- Open Account → My questions and check the status beside the submission.
- To edit a submission, sign in at hezz.net in your browser and open My Account → My Questions → Edit.
Submitting more copies will not speed up review. Keep one clear version of the question.
Answers, comments and replies
Join a conversation in the correct place.
Where do I type an answer to a community question?
Open the question and use its Write an answer section.
In the Android app- Sign in and open the question.
- Scroll below the answer list to the answer composer.
- Type a useful answer and tap its post/submit button.
An answer should address the question. Use Reply when responding to a particular answer instead.
Where do I type a comment on a guide?
Use Discussion beneath the guide’s answer content.
In the Android app- Open the guide and tap its comment/discussion control or scroll below the answer.
- Type into the discussion composer and post the comment.
Discussion may be unavailable when comments are disabled for the site.
How do I reply to another answer or comment?
Use Reply on the specific contribution you are responding to.
In the Android app- Tap Reply on the answer/comment.
- Write in the reply composer and tap its post button.
Keep your reply connected to the original point and be respectful.
How do I mark an answer helpful?
Use the helpful/feedback controls on answers when available.
In the Android app- Open the answer and tap its helpful/feedback control.
Feedback helps other readers. The original question author may also have an option to accept a useful answer.
Discussion groups
Create a space, invite members and manage a conversation.
Where do I find discussion groups?
Open Discussion groups to explore public groups and view your invitations.
In the Android app- Open Menu → Discussion groups, or Account → My groups & invitations.
- Type a group name in Find a group… and tap Search.
How do I create a discussion group?
A group starts with a name, a description, rules and a visibility choice.
In the Android app- Open Discussion groups and tap Create a group.
- Fill in Group name, Description and Group rules.
- Choose Public or Private, then tap Create group.
Visibility is fixed after creation. Public groups can be read by everyone; private discussions require accepted membership.
How do I join a public or private group?
Public groups use join requests; private groups require invitations.
In the Android app- Open a public group and tap Request to join.
- Private invitations appear in Discussion groups. Tap Accept invitation to become a member.
You cannot post while your join request is pending. Declining an invitation does not join the group.
How do I invite someone to my group?
Group owners and admins invite existing HEZZ members by profile username.
In the Android app- Open your group → Members & invitations.
- Tap Invite by username and type the existing HEZZ profile username.
- Tap Invite. Ask the member to open Discussion groups and accept.
Use the profile username, not an email address or display name. Invitations appear inside HEZZ; they are not invitation emails.
Where do I type a new discussion inside a group?
Accepted members can start topics inside their group.
In the Android app- Open the group and tap Start a topic.
- Fill in Topic title and Discussion, then tap Publish.
A group is the space; a topic is one conversation within that space.
How do I reply inside a group discussion?
Open a topic and use its reply controls.
In the Android app- Open the topic and tap Write a reply or Reply beneath a message.
- Type your response and tap Publish.
You must be an accepted group member to reply.
What can owners, admins, moderators and members do?
Group roles control membership and moderation duties.
In the Android app- Open the group’s Members & invitations section.
- Owners/admins use the member options menu to assign permitted roles or manage members.
- Moderators use topic controls for pinning and permitted content removal.
You cannot manage a higher or equal role. Site-wide reporting and personal blocking remain available.
How do I leave, transfer or close a group?
Members can leave. Owners must transfer ownership before leaving, or close the group.
In the Android app- Open your group and scroll to Leave group or Close group.
- Owners can choose Transfer ownership in an active member’s options.
Deleting an account also removes groups it owns. Transfer ownership first if a group should continue.
Images and GIFs
Choose a useful attachment and handle upload errors.
How do I attach an image or animated GIF?
Supported community attachments include JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF.
In the Android app- Tap Add image or GIF in the composer or the question thumbnail button.
- Choose the file through Android’s picker.
- Check its preview, then publish/submit the message.
GIF animation is preserved. An image does not replace a clear written question or explanation.
Why does an image fail to upload, or look smaller after posting?
The website administrator sets upload limits and maximum display dimensions.
In the Android app- Check the upload hint and any error displayed by the composer.
- Try a smaller supported image or GIF.
- Tap a discussion attachment to open the larger view.
Preview size is limited to fit the page or phone screen. Display limits do not mean every image is stretched to that size.
Can anyone open an image from my private group?
Private group attachments use the group’s access controls.
In the Android app- A person opening the private discussion must have accepted membership on their HEZZ account.
HEZZ administrators may review reported private content and attachments for moderation.
Calculators
Enter values in the right fields and understand the result.
Where do I type numbers into a calculator?
Open the tool and use its labelled input fields.
In the Android app- Tap Calculators in the bottom bar and open a tool.
- Enter values into its labelled fields and choose units/direction where offered.
- Tap Calculate and read the result. Use Reset for a new calculation.
For money and percentages, read the labels carefully. A result is an estimate based on the values entered.
How do I reverse a unit conversion?
Conversion tools offer direction/unit selectors when supported.
In the Android app- Open the weight or distance tool.
- Choose the conversion direction, enter a value and tap Calculate.
Why is a calculator showing an error?
A field may be missing, contain invalid text, or use a value the formula cannot accept.
In the Android app- Read the message shown beside the tool.
- Correct empty/non-numeric inputs, then tap Calculate again.
Calculator estimates do not replace professional advice for decisions where accuracy or individual circumstances matter.
Reporting, blocking and privacy
Keep conversations useful and manage your experience.
How do I report harmful content or a member?
Use the three-dot menu beside the content or member.
In the Android app- Tap the three-dot menu on the relevant post, reply or member.
- Choose Report, select a reason and submit.
Reports are private and reviewed by HEZZ administrators. Reporting does not automatically prove wrongdoing or remove the content.
How do I block or unblock someone?
Blocking changes what your signed-in account can see and interact with.
In the Android app- Use the member’s three-dot menu → Block member and confirm.
- Open Account → Blocked users to unblock them.
Blocks are personal account settings, not site-wide bans. They apply to your signed-in account across the app and website; anonymous public browsing remains available.
How do I change my display name, username or bio?
Use your Account profile controls.
In the Android app- Open Account → View public profile to see your HEZZ profile and username.
- To edit your display name, username, bio or profile links, open hezz.net in your browser, sign in, and use My Account → Profile → Save profile.
Your profile username identifies you for group invitations. Keep your bio and public links free of private information.
How do I delete my HEZZ account?
Account deletion permanently removes your account and associated data.
In the Android app- Open Account → Delete my account.
- Read the explanation, complete password/Google confirmation, and follow the final confirmation steps.
Transfer any groups you own before deleting if they should continue. Deletion is permanent.
Notifications, ads and help
Manage alerts and solve common problems.
How do I turn Android push notifications on or off?
Notification preferences are in the Android app’s Account section.
In the Android app- Sign in, then open Account → Notifications.
- Enable notifications and tap Allow if Android asks for permission.
- Choose whether you want Announcements and Group activity. Turn notifications off to opt out.
Delivery also depends on Android notification settings and the HEZZ notification service. Turning notifications off in HEZZ disables the registered notification devices for your account.
Why did I not receive a group notification?
Check HEZZ preferences and Android’s notification settings.
In the Android app- Check Account → Notifications: Enable notifications and Group activity should be on.
- In Android Settings → Apps → HEZZ Answers → Notifications, check that permission is allowed.
- Confirm you are signed in and are still a member of the relevant group.
Group alerts may be delayed. Leaving, being banned, blocking the sender or opting out can stop queued notifications. Private alerts use generic text; open HEZZ to read the actual discussion.
Why does HEZZ show advertisements?
Ads help support HEZZ. Advertisement cards are labelled separately from HEZZ content.
In the Android app- Advertisement cards may appear on Home, questions, categories, calculator pages and discussions.
- An ad may not appear when it cannot load or your consent settings do not allow a request.
- Open the menu → Ad privacy choices when that option is available to change consent preferences.
Advertisements are not HEZZ answers or calculator results.
What should I do if a page or discussion is unavailable?
It may have moved, been removed, require membership or be affected by a block.
In the Android app- Use Back, Home or Search to find another page.
- Check your group membership and account, then refresh the screen.
Do not post another person’s private link publicly to request help.
How do I contact HEZZ Answers for help?
Use Contact to send the HEZZ team a clear description of the issue.
In the Android app- Open Menu → Contact Us.
- Fill in the contact form and send your message.
- For an app issue, include the screen name and what happened after you tapped the button.
Never send passwords, verification codes, private signing keys or service-account credentials. Crop sensitive information from screenshots.
No matching help topics. Try a shorter word or contact the HEZZ team.
